Immersive Technology Workshops – Free for Kingston and local area residents
June 26 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Working with leading Immersive Technology artists, Eva Davidova, http://www.evadavidova.com/ and Matthew Gantt, https://www.instagram.com/gan.tttt/, participants will be introduced to Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality through a hands-on series of workshops where they will create their own immersive experiences of Kingston on Mozilla Hubs https://hubs.mozilla.com/. Using Lidar technology on the iPad Pro to create 3D models of parts of Kingston, 360 camera recordings, and 360 sound recordings, participants will work with Matthew and Eva to create a Virtual Kingston that can be viewed by anyone with a laptop and an internet connection. This evolving platform can also be experienced immersively through the use of a Virtual Reality Headset like the Quest 1 or 2 or on a digital display like the Looking Glass or the new SONY Spatial Reality Display which is being loaned to us by SONY for these workshops.
The 4 workshop dates are June 26th, July 9th, July 10th, and July 17th, 2- 5 pm. at the Kirkland, in the Senate Room space, at 2 Main Street, Kingston, NY, donated by RUPCO to the project. This is a series of workshops – please sign up for all 4 sessions.
Join us for these events and create content for this Virtual Kingston platform that will tell the stories of the many communities that make up Kingston.
If you own a laptop please bring it with you.
This will be a unique experience creating a virtual community on this accessible platform, Mozilla Hubs, as a part of the Metaverse. These workshops will open the door for you to explore creating your own immersive worlds as we adopt this new level of technology in our lives.
This is a project of the HoloCenter and has been made possible by funding from NY State Council on the Arts and by RUPCO who are generously donating the use of their conference center in the Kirkland building.
